Endangered (proposed as a future Red Data Book species) in dry sandy areas in parts of Suffolk. Not recorded in Hampshire or on the Isle of Wight to date. Wingspan 8-11 mm. Very similar to dark examples of
S. cicadella, from which separated only by dissection of the genitalia. Larva feeds on Common Sorrel and Sheep's Sorrel, living within a silken web.
